Who might be interested in applying: Students who are interested in getting some research experience for future jobs or grad school.
Students who are interested in coastal and marine science. Or not. You don't have to be marine focused to apply for the internship.
Students who are interested in wildlife, ecology, biology, and environmental science.
Students who might be interested in grad school.
Students who are still unsure what they are doing after college, but need some experience to help give them some direction.
This program sends a small group of undergraduate students to the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium Lab in Cocodrie, LA for 3 weeks in the late summer to work on research projects co-designed by LA Tech and LUMCON faculty. In the Fall quarter students return to finish up their project under the Tech faculty member and create a research poster for presentation at local, state, and national scientific meetings.
Who is eligible? This research opportunity is open to biology, environmental science, forestry, and wildlife majors of Applied and Natural Sciences. GIS majors may also apply, but applicant selection may be limited by the applicant’s interest in projects, career goals, and the project’s use of GIS.
Applications for this year's program will be available in February 2024.
